"Biodiversity is life in all its forms
and the habitat and natural
processes that support it"

British Columbia is home to a rich diversity and abundance of native species and habitats. Programs within the Ministry of Environment endeavour to conserve biodiversity, provide a variety of opportunities for the use and enjoyment of this biodiversity in B.C., and maintain a balance between the needs of native species and the needs of the people.

Species and ecosystems (habitats) in British Columbia are managed through programs in Victoria and regions (see map). To learn more about biodiversity in British Columbia, and other related topics, choose from the list at the left.
